The Hellenic Mathematical Society (HMS) was founded in 1918
Main goal to encourage the study and research in Mathematics and its numerous applications,
as well as the evolvement of Mathematical Education in Greece.
Today, 104 years later, the HMS has more than 12.000 members and 40 regional branches across Greece.
Amongst the main objectives of the HMS are:
the advancement of mathematics
the fostering of free exchange of information between mathematicians, scientists and the society at large
the substantial and continuous improvement of mathematical education and the advancement of general education
to inform Greek mathematicians on recent progress made in science and technology and offer them practical assistance in matters which may occur during their work at school
For the great scientific work and contribution to the progress of Mathematics Education in our country
the Hellenic Mathematical Society was awarded the gold medal of the Academy of Athens for the year 2018
